    Often called the “Venice of the East,” Udaipur is hemmed in by plush green Aravalli hills and serene lakes. Enveloped in abundant natural beauty, jaw-dropping temples, and breathtaking architecture, this city of lakes is a must-visit tourist destination in India. The place has several enchanting and mesmerizing tourist destinations which will give you memories for a lifetime.     1. The Lake Palace

    Situated on a sprawling 1.5-hectare area on the Jag Niwas Island, the Lake Palace was built by Maharana Jagat Singh. Once a summer palace for Maharaja, the palace is now transformed into a heritage hotel. The primary attractions of this royal palace include fountains, gardens, painted mirrors, pillared terraces, pink stonework, and apartments namedDholaMahal, PhoolMahal, AjjanNiwas, BadaMahaland Kush Mahal.

    2. Fateh Sagar Lake

    The second largest lake in Udaipur, the Fateh Sagar Lake, is situated on the northern side of Lake Pichola. This man-made lake was built in 1678 and got its name from Maharana Fateh Singh. The lake is divided into three small islands and is encircled by hills on three sides, offering scenic views.

    3. City Palace

    The royal complex of the City Palace is occupied with plenty of rooms and pillars. This palace is the biggest building in the entire city and is a must-visit during your trip to Udaipur. This flamboyant edifice is a perfect blend of Mughal and Rajasthani architectural styles. Lake Pichola, situated near the City Palace, is also a primary highlight of this majestic palace. The hilltop location lets you enjoy panoramic views from here.

    4. Jagmandir

    Another romantic destination in lakes, Jagmandir, is a 17th-century palace complex located on Lake Pichola. Popularly called the Lake Garden Palace, this tourist attraction in Udaipur will draw you with its splendor and tranquility. The place is divided into various sections: the Garden Courtyard, Gul Mahal, Darikhana, KunwarPadakaMahal, Bara PatharonkaMahal, and ZenanaMahal.

    5. Jagdish Temple

    The Indo-Aryan Jagdish Temple was built by Maharana Jagat Singh. This temple is situated near the City Palace’s Badi Pol entry. You need to climb up a few steps to reach the premises. The jaw-dropping deity of Lord Vishnu is made of black stone and the brass Garuda image will awe you. There are numerous other shrines inside the temple premises, dedicated to the Sun God, Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, and Goddess Shakti. Do not forget to attend the sunset Aarti which will be a wonderful experience here.

    6. Lake Pichola

    An iconic symbol of Udaipur, Lake Pichola, was constructed in 1362 AD. Approximately 4 km in length and 3 km in width, this shimmering lake is a must-see place in Udaipur. You can witness a myriad of palaces, royal quarters, temples, ghats and chabutaras in and around the lake. For an amazing experience, we would recommend a boat ride from the City Palace to Arsi Vilas Island and exploring the bird sanctuary it hosts.
